What is Athletic Enhancement at Excel Sports? Athletics today are more competitive than ever. Athletes are stronger, faster, and better trained than in previous years. In order to keep up with the competitive field, athletes are looking for ways to develop themselves into the best athlete they can be. Excel Sports and Physical Therapy's Athletic Enhancement Program works to improve an athlete's performance in their sport by maximizing their athleticism. Our Program is specific to each individual athlete. We adapt to the strengths, weaknesses, desires, and demands of each athlete and their sports. Our staff continually researches scientifically proven methods that are used by world-class athletes around the world. The foundation of our program is based on functional training. Functional training incorporates balance, stability, and coordination. It uses multiple joints together instead of isolating muscles. Functional training also emphasizes the core muscles of the abdomen, lower- back, and the hips/pelvis. This improved balance, stability, and coordination will make athletic movements more efficient and will decrease the risk of injury. Like the old saying goes, "you cannot fire a cannonball off a canoe". Sport-specific strength and power is developed once a stable foundation has been achieved. We utilize exercises that mimic the specific movements of each sport. We leave no stone unturned with this aspect of training. We constantly evaluate the demands of each position in each sport to come up with the most effective exercises for each athlete. We offer a creative approach to training that has been successful for many years. Click here to see a sample of our training methods. The program is designed to work with existing programs, and is not meant to replace or compete with a team weight program or practices. Brian Smith, Head Wrestling Coach University of Missouri "Today's athletes are more advanced in many ways than athletes in the past. The knowledge and training for an athlete to their optimal ability is out there and Excel Sports and Physical Therapy offers just that."
| What is a typical athletic enhancement experience like? Every athlete will start with an initial evaluation. In this evaluation, we will conduct an orthopedic screening and several different performance tests including: • Standing broad jump • Vertical leap • Shuttle Run • Single Leg Squat • Box Step Test • Seated Medicine Ball Chest Pass With these test results, a specific program approach is designed to fit each unique athlete, including different exercises to improve ones overall efficiency of movement. Athletes will use a wide-range of equipment and exercises including agility ladders, medicine balls, Swiss balls, cone drills, plyometrics, dumbbells, kettlebells, dot drills, sandbags, and balance activities. Can athletic enhancement help me with my sport? Yes. We have worked with a wide-range of athletes from a variety of sports including: football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, track and field, golf, boxing, gymnastics, figure skating, and hockey, to name a few. Do athletes see results?

Mike Mitchell Minor League Pitching Prospect Oakland A's
"If anyone is looking to strengthen their body to throw harder, and/or sustain their velocity for a long period of time, it would be a great decision for them to join an Athletic Enhancement program at Excel Sports and Physical Therapy. This season I have been healthy and have maintained my velocity for a longer period of time. This season my velocity has been between 92 to 94 mph, and that is in direct correlation to the work I did at Excel". | Excel Programs: All-Star Enhancement >> The All-Star Enhancement Program is designed for athletes ages 9 to 14.
