Healthy Dish of the Week (6-25-12): Banana Ice Cream

Banana Ice Cream

This “ice cream” is a great snack for everyone, but especially for those that are trying to maintain their weight. This “ice cream” is rich, creamy, and delicious, but only made with bananas.

 INGREDIENTS:

2 bananas per person for full dessert

DIRECTIONS:

For each person you are making ice cream for, have two well ripened bananas. Slice each banana into fairly thin slices. Grease a cookie sheet and spread the banana slices evenly. Let the slices freeze for 45 minutes. Once frozen, put the slices into the blender on medium speed. The mix will be very thick, so help the blender by stirring while it is blending. Once the ice cream is completely smooth, it is ready to be served. The texture will be closer to soft serve ice cream if eaten right after blending. If you would like a firmer substance, place back in the freezer until the ice cream has reached the desired firmness.
